118 Days - The Start of a New Adventure
118 days...188 days until I graduate from the University of Denver.
These past four years have helped me to grow, to learn, and to appreciate life for all it has to offer. I have studied abroad in the beautiful Milan, Italy and developed friendships that will last a lifetime. I have moved all of my belongings in and out of two dorm rooms, an apartment, and a house. I have gotten to know this campus like the back of my hand, but now it is all coming to a close. This is a truly bittersweet time for me, on one hand I have an extraordinarily exciting (albeit terrifying) open road ahead of me, on the other hand I am closing a monumental chapter in my life. Surely all college students go through this stage of mixed emotion, yet it can also be so personal! Some of my classmates are auditioning for graduate programs all around the world, others are planning how they are going to spend their gap year. Myself? Well that's a great question! After much deliberation I switched my degree to a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance and added a minor in Italian; can't get enough of it! This big change came about because I realized that I am graduating and not totally sure what my next step is. Yes, performing is still my passion! However, I have been running myself ragged with two jobs and a full course load, which hasn't left me much time to practice singing. So now I have applied to Florida State University and NYU: Steinhardt for their outstanding graduate Arts Administration programs! Why Arts Administration? This way I will be able to find steady work while still training my voice! At least, that's the plan.
So why am I blogging and telling you all this? Because it's a bumpy ride that I think will be good to look back on in the future. I don't expect you to keep reading, this is no longer about delicious pizzas or beautiful Italian piazzas, but I do hope you will help this girl make her way into the wide world of adulthood by lending an ear...or rather eye....
Here's to an unknown future and all its glory!
